Would You Stand Whilst Working?

Whilst most would cringe at the prospect of throwing away their comfy seat and opting to stand whilst working there’s a new product that’s got the nation on its feet! Many people are switching their regular desk for one that allows the ability to stand whilst you work! It may sound outlandish however significant evidence suggests it’s not only great for your health but vastly improves motivation and productivity.

Official health guidelines states workers should be stood up for at least 2 hours of the working day. Even the BBC is preaching the benefits of standing whilst working and are advocates of perceiving changes to your workplace as an investment rather than a cost.

The great benefit is these desks can return to a normal height without even disturbing your coffee, which is perfect as alternating between sitting and standing is when you’ll reap the biggest health benefits. Apparently reducing the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure is only a fraction of the benefits. If you’re looking to shed a few pounds it’ll help with that too! Standing for 3 to 4 hours a day burns, on average, 50 calories per hour more than sitting. Putting that into perceptive, that’s equivalent of running 10 marathons a year! And if that hasn’t convinced you, some evidence even suggests it adds an extra two years to your life.

So, if you’d like to learn more about a standing up workplace, give us a call today…
