March is a big month for women, with Women’s History Month spanning March and International Women’s Day on the 8th. Women’s History Month was first created in the USA, this now global month celebrates all things women. From the pioneers who paved the way for modern women, to those currently making their mark on the world.
So, in honour of this, we thought it would be nice to sit down with the women who work at The DL Company to talk about all things work, life, female influences and more!
Tyler Rodgers
Tyler is our Business Administrator and has been at the company for 8 years now! She plays a vital role in keeping the company ticking.
“Having been at the company for 8 years, there are many standout moments. However, my proudest moment has to be finishing my apprenticeship and my X-Bite Sketch-up drawing. My favourite thing about working at The DL Company is that the people I work with are not just colleagues, we are a family. I know everyone is always here to support me, both professionally and personally. Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with family and friends, dog walking and music festivals.
The women I find most inspirational are my Mum and all my friends and family. We are all unique in our own way, it’s inspiring to look up to those closest to you and support one another, to help you to become the best version of yourself.”
Hannah Calverley
Hannah is our office interior designer and has been in the position for coming up to one year now. She is instrumental in designing our clients’ dream offices, listening and understanding their needs and making them come to life.
“Although the newest woman to join the DL family, I have definitely made my mark! I love being the leading Interior Designer, knowing that the team at DL support my ideas and visions. I enjoy having creative freedom when designing and being able to deliver designs which fulfil the clients brief whilst still being modern and aesthetically pleasing. Away from work and my love of commercial and domestic interior design, I love to travel! I have travelled Europe with just a backpack and plan to visit Australia next. Photography is another passion of mine, inside and outside of the job.
Shea McGee is a large influence for me, from the world of Residential Design. I have always admired crafters and their work, in particular Pia Wüstenberg whose work I focused on a lot throughout my time Glass Blowing at University. I also have many strong, inspirational and influential women present in my life, whom I look up to daily.”
Katie Lowe
Last, but definitely not least, is Katie! Katie is the DL’s Company Secretary, providing support for all areas of the business. She is also married to our Managing Director, Daniel.
“I have been a member of the DL family for 13 years now and have enjoyed every minute! In particular, my biggest achievement so far would have to be initially learning and developing the role of Secretary. My favourite thing about working at The DL is, although there is of course some element of routine, each day is different and presents different, interesting challenges. Like Tyler and Hannah, I love that the company is its own little family and the office has an amazing family atmosphere. Aside from work, I enjoy lots of different activities such as travelling, going to gigs, seeing family, reading, watching live sport/theatre and going to the gym.
Women in my life who inspire me have to be my mother-in-law, who did this job before I did and my best friend who is amazingly kind. I also have a tenuous link to a historical woman who was part of the suffragette movement, called Elizabeth Clarke Wolstenholme-Elmy. Her maiden name is the same as mine as she lived most of her life in the same town as my parents.”
Thank you!
To all women who have been a part of the The DL family, both past and present, we want to say thank you for all you do. Each one of you is integral to keeping our business running as smoothly as it does.
